Montreal, the great francophone city
Montreal, the world’s second-largest French-speaking city, blends European cafés, red brick buildings and North American energy. People meet on the terraces of the Old Port along the St Lawrence River, or in the trendy lanes of the Plateau Mont-Royal. A picnic at the top of Mount Royal offers a magnificent skyline view, especially during the Sunday Tam-Tams. For a first evening out, Rue Saint-Denis and Boulevard Saint-Laurent offer countless bistros and bars.
Toronto, Ottawa and the federal capital
Toronto, the great anglophone metropolis, sparkles with the CN Tower, the Distillery District and the beaches along Lake Ontario at Harbourfront. In Ottawa, the capital, the neo-Gothic buildings of Parliament Hill overlook the Ottawa River. In winter, the Rideau Canal becomes the longest skating rink in the world. A warm, sporty date, mittens and hot chocolate included, in a truly Canadian atmosphere.
Vancouver and the Pacific
Over on the Pacific coast, Vancouver blends mountains and ocean. You stroll through Stanley Park, a vast urban park dotted with sequoias, ferry over to Vancouver Island, ski in Whistler and surf in Tofino. On Lyad, French-speaking singles living in Canada share their favourite neighbourhoods from east to west; it is up to you to find someone to start the next conversation with.
